What would it look like to live a purposeful life? For many of us, we’re still busy looking for what our purpose is. So where can we turn to find the answer?
God’s Word is the perfect place to start. Ephesians 2:10 (NASB) says, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.”
First, it’s important that we understand the significance of being God’s workmanship. In the New Living Translation of this passage, it begins with the encouragement that “we are God’s masterpiece.” God made us, and He made us with care and intentionality. Think about it. If you read through the Genesis account of creation, you discover how carefully and masterfully God created the world. Each element was planned and executed with a purpose in mind, and Scripture says He “saw that it was good” when He surveyed His handiwork. He feels the same way when He looks at you.
Maybe you’re struggling to see your purpose because you feel your life is far from being a masterpiece. Whether it’s a past mistake, a present challenge, or possibly even the persistent voice of a friend or family member intent on cutting you down, don’t allow anything or anyone to make you miss who you are in God’s sight.
Second, when we faithfully seek the One who made us, it opens the door to better understand how He made us. We begin to discover the unique gifts, skills, and experiences we have that position us for His purpose.
In today’s message excerpt, Chip shares how powerful it is when we stop pretending to be someone else, stop comparing our lives to others, and start living as His workmanship.
