The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses,
entrust these to faithful people who will be able to teach others also.
– 2 Timothy 2:2 (NASB)
I will never forget my early years as a single teacher and basketball coach in Fairmont, West Virginia. When I felt exhausted, very lonely, and wanted a much better meal than the hamburgers or cold cereal I was eating, I would find a corner in a cheap steak house called Ponderosa. There I would eat my $5 steak and read I & II Timothy slowly over and over.
As I read, I would imagine that Paul was talking directly to me. Those two books were Paul’s final letters to his son in the faith, who he was encouraging to press ahead, not waste his life. Paul taught Timothy how to make true disciples with a foundation in God’s Word, a model based on mentoring, and a plan to multiply the impact for generations to come.
Little did I know then, God was using the wisdom of those books to guide me toward His calling for my life—to make disciples and to equip others to do the same. He was also giving me the blueprint for this ministry: help people learn to truly live as Jesus taught, guide pastors to raise up disciples in their churches, and reach the next generation with hope in Jesus.
And as we see the fruit of God’s work through Living on the Edge growing exponentially here and across the globe, I want to thank you for being an important part of it.
God is using your partnership to advance His kingdom in amazing ways! Your generous support during our Mid-Year Match last month has made it possible for us to reach even more people with the discipleship teaching of the Living on the Edge broadcast, provide training for even more pastors around the world in even more countries and languages, and continue the development of our digital discipleship platform to deliver biblical truth and community connection to young people seeking hope, purpose and identity.
Let me share the story of someone who is finding hope through the generosity of people like you. Meet Sarah:
I was sitting here tonight feeling weary and worn from the day, praying to God and asking how I am supposed to continue at this pace. What came to mind was from your sermon series, Trusting Jesus No Matter What: I can't, but You can.
I am a 36-year-old mother of three young children. They have all been diagnosed with autism. I have also been struggling with chronic pain for the past year with seemingly no physical cause. We have been through a lot! But God is so good to us, and we have grown closer to Him throughout all this.
I wake up early every morning, and while I'm getting ready, I listen to one of your sermons. They bring such encouragement to my heart and lift my spirits during a time when it would be so easy to slip into discouragement. Keep up the wonderful work you do, encouraging Christians to live like Christians and pouring into hurting pastors. May God bless and protect you in all that you do!
Your faithfulness helps people like Sarah find hope in times of discouragement. Instead of giving up, she is leaning into God and His Word to bring her the strength, patience, and joy she desperately needs.
Deeper relationship with God through authentic discipleship is the answer for Sarah—and it’s the answer for our world. That’s why this month I’m teaching on an important topic that God laid on my heart long ago: You Can Make Disciples. We will study all of I & II Timothy together and learn how every believer can walk with a friend or family member through the biblical process of authentic, transformational change. It’s about moving from personal growth to intentional investment in another person’s life. Will you commit to walking with us on this journey and helping one other person come to know Christ in a deeper way?
As we look to the future, God is placing Living on the Edge in a unique position to make an even greater worldwide and eternal impact. The demand for pastoral training continues to grow, with more and more ministry partners wanting to raise up true disciples in their churches. God has given us a unique vision for reaching the next generation with His message of love and truth in the digital spaces where they live. And our world has never needed humble, obedient, authentic followers of Jesus more than it does today.
Will you continue to partner with us as we follow the vision God gave me years ago—when I was reading I & II Timothy in that steak house? Make true disciples with a foundation in God’s Word, train pastors with a model based on mentoring, and implement a Spirit-led strategy to reach the next generation and multiply the impact for generations to come.
Thank you for being such an important part of Living on the Edge!
Serving Him together,
