A Nation in Crisis
Cuba is in the midst of a severe national crisis—widespread blackouts, fuel shortages, and economic instability are disrupting daily life across the island. In the face of challenges, people are looking for hope and finding that hope in Jesus.
Moments of difficulty like this often create spiritual openness, and the church must be prepared to respond.
In this time of crisis, God has opened a strategic window to strengthen leaders who have faithfully served under pressure for decades. Living on the Edge is called to these moments—where the need is greatest and the opportunity for impact is highest.
How Will 5,000 Churches Be Reached?
Through multiplication. These leaders already gather pastors within their existing networks. What they learn will be passed on through smaller regional trainings throughout the year.
Other Questions?
These senior denominational leaders oversee large networks of hundreds of churches across Cuba. Their influence and reach enable them to spread discipleship training across the country.
Conditions are currently favorable for both exit and re-entry. We are utilizing trusted pathways and have strong confidence in the feasibility of this plan.
Printing is legal but costly and highly regulated. We will fund the local production of discipleship materials through legal channels so local pastors have the tools they need to implement what they have learned.
Our Latin America team has long-standing, trusted relationships in the region and extensive experience navigating complex ministry environments through work with the church in persecuted areas.
In addition, Living on the Edge’s training and discipleship resources, created by Chip Ingram, have been proven successful across the globe, including in places where pastoral training is restricted. These biblically based resources teach discipleship using Jesus’ model, and they equip pastors to not only disciple their own congregations but to multiply the impact by sharing their learning with other ministry leaders.
Direct access is currently limited, and a training conducted by non-Cuban nationals could compromise the safety of pastors and participants.
This approach leverages trusted national leaders who already have influence, access, and established networks, creating a greater long-term impact.
This outreach is not illegal. However, meaningful ministry activity can attract government scrutiny.
These leaders are choosing to take a measured and courageous step to strengthen the church, trusting that God will protect and provide.
This initiative covers:
- Travel for 20 leaders to the training event
- A 3-day intensive training, including the necessary materials
- Printing and distribution of materials within Cuba to serve 5,000 churches
That equates to roughly $10 per church served—a highly efficient, high-impact multiplication-based investment.
Any additional funds collected beyond this immediate need will be strategically deployed across Latin America—including new doors opening in Venezuela and Mexico. A national leader in Mexico recently shared, “Our pastors often pass through cartel checkpoints just to get to training.” Ministry conditions in these areas are difficult, and the need across the region is urgent.
Please note: For security reasons, we are unable to share certain operational details with you. But are providing as much transparency as possible about how God and Living on the Edge will use your gifts to meet needs in this critical area.
