Most of us establish our guiding or “core values” early in life and hold fast to them during life’s continuing joys and challenges. As people, we share the cultural values of our faith, our family, our community, and our nation. Many of our “first and fast” judgments about people and events are framed by our values.
When forming teams, we believe it is important for members to share core values in similar degrees. While not every project team can be matched perfectly, working with people who have similar or complementary values enables team members to quickly build a sense of kinship. With a common perspective, it’s easier for team members to reach agreement, resolve differences, and accelerate service.
