What Does It Take To Make A Difference For God?

By Chip Ingram

Do you see yourself as a difference-maker for the kingdom of God? Do you really believe that God can and will use YOU to make an impact on your world? Truth be known, most of us don’t. One of the greatest myths propagated in the church today is that God only uses “rock stars” or “super-Christians.”

There’s an unspoken assumption that God is on the lookout for bright, highly gifted, unique and extraordinary individuals. The problem with that thinking is that it confines God to our expectations. Even a casual glance at the Bible reveals this to be a lie.

We talk about Scriptural heroes in ways that make them larger than life … but the fact is that God chooses very regular, common (even broken!) people just like you and me to accomplish some of the biggest events in all of human history. Our God loves to accomplish extraordinary things through ordinary people!

So what does it take for God to ignite this kind of holy ambition in you?

It requires us to live beyond Christianity 101. It’s about going deeper than what the Christian subculture tells us is right, holy and acceptable. It’s about a truth we’ve lost sight of – that the God of the universe is actually looking for ordinary people like you and me to accomplish things beyond our wildest dreams.

Discovering and pursuing your holy ambition will take you on an adventure of faith that breaks through the sludge and stagnation that characterizes so much of the Christian faith in our day.

God’s planted a dream in your heart. Maybe you’re not sure what it is yet, or perhaps you know without a doubt and are ready to spring into action!  This week we’ll begin a new series called Holy Ambition. In it, we’ll discover a specific, Biblical process that God uses to prepare us to make a difference for Him in ways that bring those dreams to life.

My prayer for you is that this series will help you connect with your Holy Ambition and give you new perspective on what Jesus meant when He said, “For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.” (Matthew 16:24 NASB).
