Driven by the urban movement of the growing middle class, effective church outreach efforts, and the increasing youth population’s search for identity and purpose, the expanding African church is becoming a central pillar of global faith.
However, this rapid expansion brings a critical challenge: ensuring these growing congregations have the pastoral leadership they need to thrive.
A Pressing Need
In the face of this encouraging Christian growth, ministry leaders across Africa are expressing concern over a significant lack of training available for pastors. Recent studies show that most African pastors have had little, if any, formal theological training. Financial barriers and the lack of qualified theological education options in Africa have left many pastors under-equipped to serve the needs of their growing congregations.
In a continent facing a massive discipleship gap, thousands of pastors are being strengthened with biblical resilience for ministry and equipped to build high-impact churches that make disciples. An Effective Solution
Living on the Edge is stepping into this gap, providing practical, biblical training to equip pastors with the skills and knowledge they need to lead their congregations well. As pastors grow in their own faith and develop a clearer understanding of true discipleship, they begin to lead in more effective ways, seeking true transformation in the believers in their congregations, not simply larger attendance numbers.
Living on the Edge’s training program focuses on nurturing the pastor’s heart and sharing a biblical model of discipleship. Training includes four key modules:
- The A.R.T. of Survival: Equips leaders to survive crises, avoid burnout, and thrive in chaos.
- Re-Defining Success: Shifts the focus of church success from more programs and more people to intentional discipleship and faithful pastoral leadership.
- The Romans 12 Disciple: Provides practical tools to help pastors recognize and foster spiritual growth in the people in their congregations.
- Growing Disciples the Way Jesus Did: Teaches a biblical process for disciple-making modeled on Jesus’ life.
These training programs have equipped hundreds of thousands of pastors across Africa with practical leadership skills, applicable biblical resources, and effective discipleship strategies to see transformation in their own lives and the lives of those they shepherd.
